42!

Not only my current age (which sends a shiver down my spine when I think about it), but it is also my favorite number.

So I would like to take a moment to step in the world of the number that is known as 42.

A rather random number you would think? Maybe not. A simple search on the internet reveals the following interesting facts about the number 42;

  • the angle in degree for which a rainbow appears because it is the ‘critical angle’ (of refraction)
  • The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, with the number being “The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything”.  The Ultimate Question itself is unknown.
  • the number of laws in cricket
  • US gallons in a barrel of oil
  • illustrations in Lewis Caroll’s Alice in Wonderland
  • The age which Elvis died
  • The ultra slim iPod Nano weight

  1. As Douglas Adams once pointed out (reportedly, anyway), 42 is, evidently, the funniest of the two-digit numbers . .
